Breakfast bowls are visually appealing even at their most simple – fresh fruits and vibrant colours all work in harmony to create a feast for the senses (and our Instagram feeds). But every now and then someone very creative comes along and takes the art of a good breakfast bowl to the next level.
Enter Agata from _delighted, a Poland-based architect and pastel food connoisseur in one who’s mastering Instagram with her artworks, one breakfast bowl perfection at a time.
We had a pleasure collaborating with Agata (if you haven't seen Agata's take on Smartbite crispbreads and rice cakes, you and your eye balls are missing out) not too while ago and we are beyond excited for our next collab (stay tuned).
We caught up with Agata and she opened up about the motivation behind her artistic work, her fave snacks, and the most pressing question: whether she eats all the food she creates.
What’s the best thing that happened to you this month?Meeting with my best friend I haven't seen for ages
Cooking or baking?Baking
Sweet or salty?Salty! (I know that's weird if you look at my Instagram feed 😉)
All-time favorite food?Watermelon, toasts with tomato and Thai curry soup
What’s your favorite movie ever?Notting Hill
What song is heavily played on your music playlist right now?Recently I got back to one of my favourite groups Warpaint. Elephants is one of my favourites.
If your house was on fire, what two things would you run back in to get?My computer disk with all the photos and projects and a little drawer where I keep all my meaningful items
What is your favorite dessert?Ice cream with fruit jelly
I think everything tastes better with...Tomato or homemade ketchup! And of course, with salt – even chocolate.
What’s a city you wish to visit?Tokyo
What is your biggest strength?I tend to smile (sincerely) even during hard times
What is your biggest weakness?I'm a bit of a perfectionist but also impatient at the same time. Sometimes it's frustrating because those two features don't really go hand in hand. Also I have a hard time focusing on work I don't like (like paperwork etc). But I guess there are more of us!
This year I plan on eating more…Homemade vegetable juices
Hello Agata. 👋 Thank you very much for chatting with us. 🙏😊 Can you tell us a bit about yourself/your story and what inspired you to start _delighted?
I always liked to create things, especially drawing/painting. As a teen I developed my passion for creating desserts (mainly baked kind). Then I've started to pay more attention to what I eat and changed my diet to a more healthy one. Now I'm an adult and I've just combined those 3. :)
I work as an architect full time and I love a minimalistic design. Delighted is my way to create something different, use all the colors. Also it distresses me a lot.
If you could describe _delighted in three words what would they be?
Pretty, creative and eye pleasing.
What inspired _delighted name?
I wasn't sure exactly what kind of food/content I'll be posting but I knew it would be something that gives pleasure to the eye and maybe inspire others at the same time too. It's just a word. ;D
What are some of the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of running a popular Instagram account and being such an inspiring creator?
I love hearing that someone recreates one of my ideas with kids or just started to eat more healthy and colorful. Also, I've made a lot of amazing friends through this platform.
The biggest challenge is that you have to spend a lot of time online. Even if that's a pleasure for me, sometimes I feel like putting my phone away and just read a book instead.
We can spend hours scrolling through your feed. It’s so colourful, unique and incredibly creative. What inspires you?
Thank you! I have no idea. :) It's probably the work of other creators or just beautiful food itself.
Do you eat all the food you take photos of?
Haha! That's the most popular question I get. I share my creations with my husband or the rest of my family. Or just eat a part of it and leave the rest for later.
What’s one ingredient that you just can’t live without?
This is a hard question! I use a lot of coconut yogurt but I also love bananas, tomatoes, lemons, nuts and chocolate.
How long does it take to get the perfect Instagram shot?
Usually the longest part is preparing the food. It takes anywhere from half an hour to two hours, depending on what I'm making.
What is your favorite late-night snack?
Hot chocolate, rice cakes (I really mean it!) or raw carrots.
What do your friends and family think of your life as an influencer?
They are happy when they get my desserts. And my mum usually gives me something saying: “It'll be good for your pictures.”
What words do you live by?
Love, optimism, honesty, passion.
What two pieces of advice would you give to someone interested in starting their own foodie Instagram?
Do what brings you joy but also try to stand out. There are a lot of foodies on Instagram so don't try to copy anyone. Just be unique and yourself.
Finally, can you share one of your favorite recipes that you posted on Instagram?
I can't unfortunately as I like them all! ;D I don't post a lot of cakes but they usually turn out really delicious. Also, I like everything with the ocean theme. It gives me the summer vibes I need especially during fall/winter time.

WHAT IS SMARTBITE COLLECTIVE? Smartbite Collective shines a spotlight on changemakers in our community that live according to Smartbite principles. We started Smartbite Snacks because we want to live our lives on our own terms while creating a positive change around us. We don't wait for things to happen, we get up and happen to things. Roadblocks don't discourage us, they fuel us. We believe that life is what you make it, how you impact it and also how you look at it – rice cakes are just rice but wine is just grapes. To us simplicity, boldness, kindness and giving a shit (yes, we said it) are everything and when we meet someone who embodies all of the above, you bet we'll ask tons of questions.

Meet Yoko Segawa, our talented May collaborator who believes that cooking is a basic form of self care and we cannot agree more. We first encountered Yoko on Instagram Reels, where she serenely shares recipe details of her healthy, plant based creations in 30 seconds or less.
Yoko's IG account, @yokos.kitchen an extension of her YouTube channel of the same name, has an immediately recognizable style. The pastel pink hues, fresh flowers, unique food creations and tunes that flit between mellow electronica to delightfully carefree pop tracks will instantly put you at easy.
We recently caught up with Yoko and chatted about everything from what she misses most about Japan to how the macrobiotics made her fall in love with a plant based food.
