Meet Yoko Segawa, our talented May collaborator who believes that cooking is a basic form of self care and we cannot agree more. We first encountered Yoko on Instagram Reels, where she serenely shares recipe details of her healthy, plant based creations in 30 seconds or less.
Yoko's IG account, @yokos.kitchen an extension of her YouTube channel of the same name, has an immediately recognizable style. The pastel pink hues, fresh flowers, unique food creations and tunes that flit between mellow electronica to delightfully carefree pop tracks will instantly put you at easy.
We recently caught up with Yoko and chatted about everything from what she misses most about Japan to how the macrobiotics made her fall in love with a plant based food.
You know those Instagram accounts you stumble upon that keep you glued to your phone for an extra hour while you salivate profusely?Nive's @colorfulbalancedrecipes is that Insta account for us. We are consistently blown away by the creativity and thoughtfulness Nive puts into each and every post. 😍 So without further ado we are pleased to introduce you to our new collaborator hailing all the way from the San Fran Bay area. Meet Nive Suresh. 👋
A picture paints a thousand words… or more, in the case of food art Instagrammer, a stylish mother of two and an incredibly creative pharmacist Clara Lee. Our fave food artist —and a regular Disney Family contributor—has a colourful, kawaii aesthetic and eye for detail that has captured the hearts 💕 of many, us included.
Clara chatted with us about everything from how she got started in the creative world of food styling, what fashion means to her to what is the best thing about being a mom.
If you’re not already following Mirieta, a.k.a. @thesweetenedpea, on Instagram, know this: The possibility of making your life (and nutrition) at least 10 percent more joyous is only a screen tap away.
Breakfast bowls are visually appealing even at their most simple – fresh fruits and vibrant colours all work in harmony to create a feast for the senses (and our Instagram feeds). But every now and then someone very creative comes along and takes the art of a good breakfast bowl to the next level.
Enter Agata from _delighted, a Poland-based architect and pastel food connoisseur in one who’s mastering Instagram with her artworks, one breakfast bowl perfection at a time.
We had a pleasure collaborating with Agata (if you haven't seen Agata's take on Smartbite crispbreads and rice cakes, you and your eye balls are missing out) not too while ago and we are beyond excited for our next collab (stay tuned).
It’s no secret that we are professional snack makers and equally professional snack eaters and chocolate definitely tops our fave snack list. During our January business trip to San Francisco, we found ourselves looking for #beantobar and #craftchocolate on Instagram while waiting to check into our Soma hotel. We soon discovered the diversity of the chocolate-making scene in the west coast and noticed the concentration of chocolate-making companies in California.
Then we stumbled upon 9TH & LARKIN’s Instagram account and quickly fell in love with the brand’s sense of aesthetics. We immediately put this SF based bean-to-bar chocolate maker on our “to-try” list and had our first taste a couple of days later and oh boy, was it GOOD. We loved this chocolate so much that we partnered with 9TH & LARKIN on a giveaway and invited Lan to tell us more about .
Because we wanted to hear more about Lan’s chocolate story and the wonderful world of craft chocolate making, we asked her to answer all of our burning questions for May edition of Smartbite Collective. We think you’ll really enjoy e-meeting Lan.
